About

What is Hacknotify?

HackNotify is a data breach search engine that helps users check whether their personal information has appeared in leaked or compromised data. Users can search for exposed email addresses, phone numbers, usernames, and passwords to better understand their risk after a breach. Phone number checks can also help users stay alert to SIM swapping attempts, where criminals try to take control of a victim’s mobile number. HackNotify gives users a simple way to identify exposure, avoid password reuse, and take faster action to protect their accounts.

What does Hacknotify do?

HackNotify helps users search known breach records and monitor for new exposure linked to their information. The platform supports checks for email addresses, phone numbers, and passwords. HackNotify also sends breach alerts by email and SMS, helping users respond quickly when their information appears in newly identified leaked data. Additional free and paid security features are being developed and will be added to the platform over time.

What technology does Hacknotify utilize to collect its data?

HackNotify uses proprietary tools to scan public sources, clear web data, and dark web breach data for leaked information. We also index findings from sources such as Shodan, a search engine for internet-connected devices, to help identify misconfigured or publicly exposed databases. HackNotify is operated by the team behind Hackread.com, a cybersecurity news site active since 2011. Security researchers also share findings with us, and when permission is granted, relevant exposed data may be added to HackNotify’s indexed directory.
